Zyppah: the tongue is the target
Zyppah's argument is that jaw advancement alone misses the actual blockage for a lot of snorers. Their device is a mandibular advancement mouthpiece with a soft elastic strap running across it that holds the tongue forward, which the company describes as working like a seatbelt for your tongue.
That is a legitimate distinction. Tongue-based snoring and jaw-based snoring are not the same problem, and most mouthpieces on the market only address the second one.
The trade-off is that you get one shot at the jaw position. Zyppah has no adjustment mechanism. Whatever advancement you lock in during the boil-and-bite mold is what you sleep with. If it turns out too aggressive, you are looking at a remold or a return rather than a turn of a wrench. Their terms do cover a free replacement if the device was molded improperly.
The strap is also the thing people either love or cannot tolerate. If you have a sensitive gag reflex, a strap sitting across your tongue is a harder ask than a plain mouthpiece.
About the 91% figure
Zyppah advertises a clinically proven 91% success rate. The study behind it enrolled self-reported snorers who used the device for 10 days and answered a questionnaire before and after. It measured what participants said about their own snoring over a short window. It was not a controlled trial with objective sound measurement, and 91% is not a cure rate. SnoreRx: dial it in a millimeter at a time
SnoreRx built its whole case around calibration. After you mold it, you slide the lower tray forward one millimeter at a time, up to six, with a built-in indicator showing your current setting. The company recommends starting at 1 mm and advancing every two to three nights until your snoring settles.
That matters more than it sounds. Jaw advancement is the part of a mouthpiece that causes morning soreness, and being able to creep up on the right position instead of committing to it on night one is the difference between adapting and quitting.
The SnoreRx Plus is the newer model. It keeps the same 6 mm adjustment range and adds lateral and vertical jaw movement, which the company positions as more comfortable for people who grind or clench.
The catch is the return window. SnoreRx offers 30 nights, and the clock starts on the delivery date, not the day you first wear it. Given that a MAD often takes a week or two to adapt to, a 30-day window from delivery is tight. Look at the table again and one row does the most work: sizes. Both devices come in a single size built to fit most adult mouths. Molding shapes the impression, but it does not change the footprint of the tray.
That is the quiet reason a lot of mouthpieces fail. A device engineered around an average adult mouth is a poor bet for someone with a smaller jaw, and no amount of boiling fixes a tray that is too big to begin with.

Can you adjust a Zyppah after molding it?
